The water plant expansion has fallen behind schedule, due in part to delays of key water treatment plant equipment being manufactured in Canada.
The new expected date of completion has been moved to October 1, 2007. As a result, the City will need to purchase water from Chesterfield and Ira Townships again this summer.
There are some areas of the expansion that have been completed; the new 30 inch diameter raw water intake pipe that extends 2,000 feet out into Anchor Bay , the new settling basins capable of treating 6 million gallons a day have been in use for over a year.
The raw water pump station is near completion as well as the chemical feed building that was built to resemble the original building which was build on this site in the late 1800’s.
